Levoča goldsmith Ján Szilássy (1705-1782) is regarded as the most renowned and prolific goldsmith in his field in the territory of Slovakia. His work is characteristic, particularly with the application of enamel-painted medallions. Their multi-figural subjects draw inspiration from both biblical subjects and the town vedutas. A hundred liturgical objects represent the core of his acclaimed work as none of his profane work has been preserved to date. They are to be found in 55 localities across Slovakia.
